Phonetic transcription may be regarded as an important tool, applicable whenever it is necessary to visually capture the sound patterns of speech. In the international context, the IPA transcription system is used for this purpose; the IPA comprises a set of symbols corresponding to speech sounds occurring in various languages of the world, as well as diacritics which allow the transcriber to capture modifications of speech sounds. In the Czech linguistic environment, conventions for transcribing with the IPA do exist, but a local system making use of Czech alphabet symbols is often preferred. This Czech phonetic transcription is frequently used for...

DIAGNOSTIC REFLECTIONS ON THE SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENTAL SPEECH AND LANGUAGE DISORDERS

Mgr. Barbora Richtrová

Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(1):12-16 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0042791

Our aim is to propose one of the possible determination of the diagnostic code for specific developmental speech and language disorders as defined in the International classification of diseases (ICD-10). The reason for this consideration is the lack of unity among the specialists in understanding of the definitions provided in the ICD-10 that results in different use of the diagnostic codes in clinical practice. Our work suggests topics for discussion among specialists that may pave the way to the consensus regarding the specific developmental speech and language disorders.

Ramona Keul, Magdalena Brudnicki, Nina Osiecki

Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(1):21-29 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0074921

Speech pronunciation disorders in German language is the main reason why children come to speech therapist office. The majority is between the age of 3-6, it presents 16% of the population. The basic method for assessing the specification of their speech impairment is the "Dod" classification model (1995, 2005). This method analysis whether the impairment is caused by phonetic disability, phonological retardation or consequent or non-consecvent phonological disability. The psycholinquistical method of child speech impairment analyses (PLAKSS-II, Fox-Boyer, 2014b) is based on a reliable exercise of naming pictures that are, in the German language used...

PaedDr. Lenka Pospíšilová

Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(1):39-44 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0094060

The article discusses developmental speech, language and communication disorders from the point of view of the end of the period between the original rules and the new concept. It explains the difference of concepts of the current ICD-10 World Health Organization and DSM-V American Psychiatric Society issued five years ago and leaves a look into the upcoming version of ICD-11. It emphasizes that neurodevelopmental disorders, among which all developmental communication disorders belong, require a conceptual approach based on current knowledge of neurobiology and genetics. New insights bring fundamental changes in the preview, that is why they are a...

THE TARKOWSKI STUTTERING THERAPY METHOD (article in Polish)

prof. dr hab., n. hum. Zbigniew Tarkowski

Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(1):68-73 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0152002

The method used by Professor Tarkowski represent a system approach to the therapy of people who stutter at a different age. This approach assumes that the structure of stuttering involves linguistic factors (e.g. speech disfluency), biological factors (e.g. excessive muscle tension), psychological factors (e.g. logophobia) and social factors (e.g. communication stress). Previous approaches focus mainly on particular factors corresponding to the therapist specialties. Physicians are used to biological factors, psychologists to psychological factors, speech therapists to linguistic and social factors. In the method used by Professor Tarkowski the whole...
