Breathing and its disorders are in the centre of interest of many medical and healthcare specialists. Paresis or loss of strength of skeletal muscles may often be observed in patients with neurological disease. However, muscles of respiration are also skeletal muscles and loss of their strength may cause restrictive pattern of ventilation disorder along with many other complications. Multidisciplinary approach and awareness of physical rehabilitation of respiratory functions thus may help with management of acute or chronic breathing disorders in patients with neurological disease.

Keywords: respiratory muscles, effective expectoration, respiratory muscle training
