PRIMARY PROGRESSIVE APHASIA
Prof. PaedDr. Zsolt Cséfalvay, PhD., Doc. MUDr. Robert Rusina, Ph.D.
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):3-7 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0182541
Recently, clinical speech and language pathologists are facing a new challenge, diagnosing and suggesting intervention strategies for patients with progressive aphasia. This clinical syndrome differs in many aspects from classical vascular aphasia. Most often, these language deficits occur in the frontal temporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) clinical presentation. Patients have primarily linguistic-cognitive deficits that influence their daily communication and negatively affect their quality of life. Diagnosing different subtypes of primary progressive aphasia (PPA) should focus on the single word level (anomia, paraphasia, words comprehension), sentence...
SOME NOTES ON BILINGUALISM IN APHASIA
Mgr. Eva Flanderková, Ph.D.
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):8-12 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0191237
The article deals with bilingualism in aphasia. First, several questions concerning bilingualism are outlined whereas some of the general standards of bilingual research are mentioned. Second, the particular research on language organization in bilingual mind/brain is given some attention. The third section of the arcticle addresses the spontaneous recovery from bilingual aphasia, sections four and five discuss bilingual aphasia assessment and therapy. The article concludes with a short summary.
AGRAMMATISM IN SPEECH PRODUCTION IN A PATIENT AFTER RESECTION OF TUMOUR IN THE TEMPOROPARIETAL REGION OF THE LEFT HEMISPHERE
Mgr. Tomáą Kubík, Ph.D.
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):13-21 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0201687
The case study describes the form of transient changes in the morphosyntactic structure of the language processing system, manifested both in spontaneous (contextually anchored) speech production and in specific linguistically oriented (decontextualized) tasks aimed at stimulation of speech production in a patient after resection of tumour in the temporoparietal region of the linguistically dominant hemisphere. The presence of the agrammatism in speech production due to damage to areas other than Broca's are in line with current models of language processing in the neurocognitive network of the human brain. An important aspect of these concepts is...
FUNCTIONAL MAGNETIC RESONANCE IN RELATION TO LANGUAGES CENTERS
MUDr. Ing. Radek Tupý, Ph.D.
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):22-26 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0211043
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is routinely used in clinical practice for neurosurgery planning in case of pathological process located near the predicted position of languages centers. To carry out a proper examination, active collaboration of a patient is essential and the role of Speech-Language Pathologist is therefore very important. Another application of fMRI includes research of function mapping and plasticity of the brain.
ACQUIRED CHILDHOOD APHASIA
Mgr. Barbora Michlová
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):27-31 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0222817
Acquired childhood aphasia is often mentioned only marginally in domestic literature despite the fact that the number of individuals affected by this acquired language disorder is constantly growing (ÚZIS ČR, 2014). The aim of this article is to highlight the issue of acquired childhood aphasia in context of domestic and foreign literature, to summarize currently available knowledge about aphasias in relation to childhood and to encourage experts from different fields to further explore this phenomenon.
USE OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR THERAPY OF PATIENTS AFTER STROKE
Ing. Anna Holubová, MUDr. Markéta Janatová
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):32-36 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0231867
Consequences of stroke often require long-term and complex rehabilitation. In the therapy of motor and cognitive functions it is optimal to use conventional therapeutical approaches in combination with modern technical tools. In this type of intervention, motion sensors and visual feedback are often used. These can take the form of a game to increase patient's motivation. For home monitoring and auto-therapy there are solutions in the form of wearable and interactive telerehabilitation devices. This article summarizes the overview of technological tools that can be used in the neurorehabilitation of patients after stroke.
SPEECH THERAPY PERSPECTIVE OF NEUROCOGNITIVE REHABILITATION IN PATIENTS WITH APHASIA
Mgr. Lucie Kytnarová
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):37-42 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0241813
Cognitive functions are damaged in any brain damage, traumatic, non-traumatic and neurodegenerative. The aim of the paper is to point out a multifunctional interconnective view of the disorder of language - aphasia, thus extending the possibilities in the therapy of this impaired communication ability. Aphasia is described in relation to executive functions, attention and memory, in particular the negative effect of these disorders on the therapy of aphasia is described.

APHASIA THROUGH THE EYES OF THE PUBLIC
PhDr. Petr Kopečný, Ph.D., Mgr. Gabriela Habalová
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):52-56 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0281743
The paper presents the results of research, which between 2016 and 2017 focused on informing the professional and lay public in the field of aphasia and the possibilities of raising of awareness of aphasia and its intervention. The solution of the problem was motivated by the effort to analyse the basic awareness of the term aphasia. In order to achieve the research objectives was used the questionnaire survey method. In the research were included two groups of respondents in the total number of 112 (representatives of lay and professional public). The results support considerations of inadequate awareness of aphasia, its occurrence, symptoms, associated...

VIDEOFLUOROSCOPY IN CHILDREN
PaedDr. Barbora Bunová, PhD.
Listy klinické logopedie 2018, 2(2):68-76 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2018.0331984
Dysphagia, or swallowing and feeding impairment, can occur in children from the earliest age. The etiology of these impairments is multifactorial. The incidence and prevalence of feeding and swallowing disorders in children is increasing. This is assumed to be caused by the progress in health care (e.g. the ability to save extremely premature children with a potentially higher risk of health complications in the future). The impact of dysphagia on children can be devastating from the point of view of their future development. That is why early assessment and teamwork of specialists in paediatric dysphagia, with the irreplaceable role of a SLT, is crucial....
