MULTIMODAL APPROACH TO THERAPY OF FUNCTIONAL DYSPHAGIA IN CHILDREN

Mgr. Barbora Červenková

Listy klinické logopedie 2017, 1(2):3-17 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2017.0173217

Picky eating and food refusal is usually classified as part of a spectrum of feeding difficulties usually called functional dysphagia. It is characterised by an unwillingness to eat familiar foods or to try new foods, as well as strong food preference to the total refusal of all food. There is no single widely accepted definition of picky eating/food refusal and therefore there is little consensus on an appropriate assessment measure and treatment. Functional dysphagia in children has historically been treated using a cognitive behavioral approach, which was not succesfull in all cases. From our therapeutic point of view it is beneficial if we use...

An outline of developmental anomalies in the neck of children and adolescents is provided. These include, in particular, lateral cervical fistulas and cysts, medial cervical cysts, and anomalies of large cervical vessels. The aim is to give speech and language pathologists an insight into the issue and to highlight the possibility of swallowing disorders in some diseases demonstrated in case reports.

MUDr. Mgr. Magdalena Chvílová Weberová

Listy klinické logopedie 2017, 1(2):31-39 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2017.0212030

Premature birth has a complex impact on the programmed trajectory of fetal development. The uterus is a natural and stimulating, regulatory and correct development environment for the child. Premature babies are perceived as fetuses evolving in the evolutionary unnatural extrauterine environment of the neonatal ICU. This can significantly affect neurophysiological, emotional and psychosocial development of the child.Neonatology is a field with a very dynamic. New treatments increase the number of survivors severely premature infants is increasing with new and very vulnerable children at risk patient group long-term morbidity. Caring for these children...

MUSCLE TENSION CHANGES OF OROFACIAL ORGANS IN EARLY CHILDHOOD

PaedDr. Adelaida Fábianová, MUDr. Miroslav Tedla, PhD, MPH

Listy klinické logopedie 2017, 1(2):40-44 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2017.0221344

In first three years of life the orofacial system undergoes continual development. Its proper development is affected by many structural neurological changes alterning the development of the physiological processes necessary for food intake/swallowing.In many cases of children with muscle tension disabilities these processes are disturbed. This paper focuses on the consequences of impaired muscular tension on food intake in children.

Mgr. Bc. Jana Mironova Tabachová, doc. Mgr. Kateřina Vitásková, Ph.D.

Listy klinické logopedie 2017, 1(2):45-51 | DOI: 10.36833/lkl.2017.0231579

Möbius syndrome is a very rare congenital developmental disorder which primarily affects the muscles controlling facial expression and eye movements. The exact probability of occurance of this syndrome is unknown. Some experts suggest that the percentage of individuals born with it is between 0,0002% and 0,002%. Because of the low prevalence, the syndrome is not well known among the general or professional public and is therefore often diagnosed at later age. The aim of the article is to familiarize the public with the issues regarding Möbius syndrome from a terminology, etiology and especially symptomatology perspective. The diagnostic process and...
